'Nachholen' (to make up) is a separable verb. The prefix 'nach-' goes at the end in main clauses. In subordinate clauses and in the infinitive, the verb stays together.

Einholen and nachholen can both involve making up a deficit in work or knowledge. Nachholen means doing something that was missed later, whereas einholen means making up the gap relative to an existing lead. Someone who works on a missed assignment nachholt it; someone who is back at the same level has eingeholt the deficit.

Jana had to make up the exercises she had missed over the weekend.
