However, 'Religion' means a faith that is important to people and is often connected with rules, rituals, and community. 'Mythologie' means the collection of myths and stories of gods from a culture. It is often viewed historically, culturally, or literarily. The words can be confused because some religions also contain myths. When it is about lived faith, 'Religion' fits. When it is about old stories and figures such as gods or heroes, 'Mythologie' fits better.
