'die Chemie' and 'die Physik' are both natural sciences and often appear as school subjects or fields of study. For that reason, learners can easily confuse them. 'Chemie' fits when it is about substances, their properties, and how they change, for example in reactions. 'Physik' fits when it is about laws of nature, energy, motion, light, or forces. A simple guide is: for substances and reactions, use 'Chemie'; for forces and energy, use 'Physik'.
