sending-off
A punishment in sports in which a player is sent off the field for a serious rule violation. In football/soccer, this is often indicated by a red card.

exclusion order
An official order, usually issued by the police, instructing a person to leave a particular public place and not return for a set period of time.

The word is made up of 'der Platz' (the place/field) and 'der Verweis' (the reprimand/order). A 'Verweis' is an official instruction or punishment. So a Platzverweis is literally an instruction to leave a particular place.

An authority (referee, police) 'erteilt' (issues) a Platzverweis (sending-off/exclusion order). The person who has to leave 'bekommt' or 'erhält' (gets/receives) a Platzverweis.

Both measures can keep a disruptive person away from a place. A Hausverbot is issued by the owner or an authorized person under their right to control access to the premises, while a Platzverweis is normally ordered by an authority for a public place. The decisive difference is therefore who issues the measure.
