A session or assembly attended by all members of an organization, a parliament, or a committee. The word is a noun in German (das Plenum).

'die Sitzung' and 'das Plenum' can both mean a formal meeting. 'Sitzung' is more general: it can be small or large and can also involve only part of an organization. 'Plenum' more specifically means a session or assembly attended by all members of a group, parliament, or committee. Learners may confuse the words because both occur in official contexts. In practical terms: every plenary session is a 'Sitzung', but not every 'Sitzung' is a 'Plenum'.
