Nominalized adjective
'Polnisch' (Polish) is the name of the language. It is a nominalized adjective and is therefore always capitalized.
EXAMPLE
Sie lernt seit einem Jahr Polnisch.
She has been learning Polish for a year.
Use without an article
When 'Polnisch' (Polish) is used as the name of the language with verbs like 'sprechen' (to speak), 'lernen' (to learn), or 'verstehen' (to understand), it normally appears without an article.
