Usage tips
Word structure
The word is made up of 'Problem' (problem) and the ending '-los' (-less). The ending '-los' means 'ohne' (without) and can be attached to many nouns to form an adjective (e.g., 'arbeitslos' = unemployed, 'harmlos' = harmless).
EXAMPLE
Er kaufte ein Ticket für eine sorgenlose Reise in die Sonne.
He bought a ticket for a carefree trip to the sun.
Adjective or adverb
'Problemlos' (trouble-free/without problems) can be used as an adjective before a noun or as an adverb to describe a verb. As an adjective, it is declined; as an adverb, it remains unchanged.
EXAMPLE
Das war eine problemlose Reparatur.
That was a trouble-free repair.
Typical collocations
As an adverb, 'problemlos' (without problems/smoothly) is often combined with verbs such as 'funktionieren' (to function/work), 'verlaufen' (to proceed), 'klappen' (to work out), or 'möglich sein' (to be possible).
EXAMPLE
Die Bezahlung per Kreditkarte ist problemlos möglich.
Payment by credit card is possible without any problems.

problemlos vs ohne
without
'ohne Weiteres' and 'problemlos' have very similar meanings: something is possible without difficulty or works well. 'problemlos' can be used as an adjective or adverb, for example 'eine problemlose Anmeldung' (a trouble-free registration) or 'das klappt problemlos' (that works without any problems). 'ohne Weiteres' is a fixed expression and fits especially well when you want to say that something is easily possible. Important: not every 'ohne' means 'problemlos'. Only 'ohne Weiteres' has this meaning.

Im Gespräch lässt sich die Frage problemlos klären.
The question can be clarified without any problems in the conversation.
