A 'Rezension' (review) is often combined with the verbs 'schreiben' (to write), 'verfassen' (to compose/write), 'lesen' (to read), or 'veröffentlichen' (to publish). These describe the process from creating to publishing a review.

The well-known critic wrote a new review for the newspaper.
To name the work being reviewed, you usually use the preposition 'über' with the accusative or 'zu' with the dative. Both variants are correct and common.

To describe the kind of evaluation, 'Rezension' (review) is often used with adjectives such as 'positiv' (positive), 'negativ' (negative), 'kritisch' (critical), 'begeistert' (enthusiastic), or 'vernichtend' (devastating).
Nach der vernichtenden Rezension kamen kaum noch Gäste ins Theater.
After the devastating review, hardly any guests came to the theater.
criticism / review
When assessing a work professionally, both Kritik and Rezension are often possible. Rezension clearly refers to a review that is often published as a separate text. Kritik can more generally mean the professional analysis and evaluation of a work, or the result of that analysis.
Am nächsten Tag veröffentlichte die Filmexpertin ihre Rezension des neuen Films.
The next day, the film expert published her review of the new film.

After the screening, the film expert formulated her criticism of the new film.
