Review vs Kritik
criticism / review
'die Kritik' and 'das Review' can both mean an evaluation of something. In German, 'Kritik' often sounds more general and can also be negative feedback about mistakes. For books, films, or plays, 'Kritik' can also be an expert review. 'Review' is used especially for products, films, books, or in work and technology, for example in 'Projekt-Review' (project review) or 'Code-Review' (code review). Learners may confuse the words because both have to do with evaluating. As a practical rule: when it is about a negative opinion or a review in standard German, 'Kritik' often fits. When it is about an online rating, a product, or a formal assessment at work, 'Review' sounds more natural.
Review
Nach dem Projekt schreiben wir ein kurzes Review für das Team.
After the project, we write a short review for the team.
Kritik
Die Kritik an dem neuen Plan war deutlich, aber fair.
