Common collocations include 'afrikanische Savanne' (African savanna), 'weite Savanne' (vast savanna), 'Savannenlandschaft' (savanna landscape), and 'Savannenklima' (savanna climate). The word therefore often appears in geographical, biological, and natural history texts.
Die afrikanische Savanne bietet vielen Tierarten einen Lebensraum.
The African savanna provides a habitat for many animal species.
The context of the savanna often involves observing nature, animal migrations, national parks, and the alternation between the dry season and the rainy season. Words such as 'Safari' (safari), 'Elefanten' (elephants), or 'Nationalpark' (national park) can therefore point to this meaning.
Während der Safari beobachteten wir in der Savanne eine große Elefantenherde.
During the safari, we observed a large herd of elephants in the savanna.
