'Stoßzahn' (tusk) is often used with animal names or suitable adjectives: 'Elefantenstoßzahn' (elephant tusk), 'Walrossstoßzahn' (walrus tusk), 'langer Stoßzahn' (long tusk), and 'gebogener Stoßzahn' (curved tusk).

'Stoßzahn' (tusk) is especially common in descriptions of elephants, walruses, and extinct mammoths. Words such as 'Elfenbein' (ivory), 'Herde' (herd), or 'Eiszeit' (Ice Age) help identify the animal context being referred to.
