Eine Zahlung leisten emphasizes that someone is fulfilling a payment obligation. Eine Zahlung tätigen describes the same action more as a formal or business transaction. Leisten is therefore particularly suitable for a sum that is due; tätigen is usual when neutrally referring to a transaction.
Das Unternehmen wird die vereinbarte Zahlung am Freitag tätigen.
