Usage tips
Separable verb
„Zulaufen“ (to run toward) is separable: In a main clause, „zu“ is separated and appears at the end; in a subordinate clause, it stays together with the verb at the end. With the infinitive marker „zu“, it comes between „zu-“ and „laufen“.

Der Junge läuft auf seinen Vater zu.
The boy runs toward his father.

Dative and perfect tense
