Separable verb
“Ankotzen” (to gross someone out / to piss someone off / to puke on someone) is a separable verb made up of “an-” and “kotzen” (to puke). In a main clause, the prefix appears at the end of the sentence; in a subordinate clause and in the infinitive with “zu,” the verb stays together, or “zu” appears between the prefix and the stem.
EXAMPLE
Der Gestank kotzt mich sofort an.
The stench grosses me out immediately.
Sie geht hinaus, weil sie der Geruch ankotzt.
She goes outside because the smell grosses her out.

Accusative object
