'Ausleben' (to live out) is a separable verb. The prefix 'aus-' comes at the end in a main clause. It strengthens the meaning of 'leben' (to live) in the sense of 'fully' or 'to the end.'

There are two structures: the reflexive form 'sich ausleben' means to enjoy life freely. The transitive form 'etwas ausleben' means to express a particular feeling or inclination.

When expressing a quality or feeling, typical objects are 'seine Kreativität' (one's creativity), 'seine Fantasie' (one's imagination), 'seine Gefühle' (one's feelings), or 'seine Neigungen' (one's inclinations).

'umsetzen' and 'ausleben' can both mean that something internal comes outward and is actually done. 'umsetzen' is neutral and fits plans, ideas, or projects. It sounds factual and goal-oriented. 'ausleben' is used more for one's own wishes, feelings, fantasies, or sides of one's personality. It emphasizes that someone freely shows or experiences something. Learners may confuse the words because in both cases something is realized. But you implement a project; you are more likely to live out creativity, feelings, or personal wishes.
