dry

Trocken generally describes a non-sweet taste in alcoholic drinks. Brut, by contrast, specifically refers to very dry sparkling wine, Sekt, or champagne with very little residual sugar. Use trocken for an ordinary wine; for appropriately labeled sparkling wine, use Brut.
