einbürgern vs integrieren

to integrate

'sich integrieren' and 'einbürgern' can both have to do with people who live in a country or society. 'sich integrieren' means that someone becomes part of a group or society and finds their way in everyday life. 'einbürgern', on the other hand, is an official legal process: a person receives citizenship. In addition, 'sich einbürgern' can mean, for customs or words, that something becomes common over time. The words can be confused because both have to do with belonging. But integration is social and everyday, while naturalization, for people, is official and legal.
