'Einschätzen' (to assess / estimate) is a separable verb. In a main clause, the prefix 'ein-' moves to the end of the sentence. In subordinate clauses, it remains attached to the verb.

'Einschätzen' (to assess / estimate) is very often followed by a subordinate clause that begins with a question word (wie, was, ob). This subordinate clause specifies exactly what is being assessed.
Ich kann schwer einschätzen, ob er die Wahrheit sagt.
It's hard for me to assess whether he is telling the truth.
The verb 'einschätzen' (to assess / estimate) is often combined with adverbs that describe the quality of the assessment. Typical phrases are 'richtig/falsch einschätzen' (to assess correctly/incorrectly) or 'gut/schlecht einschätzen' (to assess well/poorly).

'halten für' or 'halten von' and 'einschätzen' both have to do with an opinion about someone or something. 'jemanden für etwas halten' (to consider someone something) often expresses an assessment directly: you consider someone honest, intelligent, or unsuitable. 'Was hältst du von ...?' (What do you think of ...?) asks for an opinion in general. 'einschätzen' sounds a bit more precise and deliberate: you assess abilities, character, or a situation based on certain information. In everyday language, 'halten von' is very natural for opinions. 'einschätzen' fits better when you need to evaluate or judge something.
