Usage tips
Word structure
“Entworfen” (designed) is the past participle of the inseparable verb “entwerfen” (to design). This consists of “ent-” and “werfen” (to throw). The basic idea is to “throw out” or sketch a first idea or plan.
EXAMPLE

The architect designed a completely new concept for the museum.
Sentence structure with “von”
As an adjective before a noun, “entworfen” (designed) is often used in a participial construction to name the creator. The structure is: “das von [Urheber] entworfene [Objekt]” (the [object] designed by [creator]).
EXAMPLE
Das von dem berühmten Architekten entworfene Gebäude ist eine Touristenattraktion.
The building designed by the famous architect is a tourist attraction.

entworfen vs geplant
planned
'geplant' and 'entworfen' can both mean that something was thought through before being carried out. 'geplant' is more general and fits processes, appointments, projects, or actions. 'entworfen' fits especially when someone designs or conceptualizes something, for example a house, a dress, a poster, or a technical model. It is often about a creative or professional idea that has not necessarily been built or implemented yet. The words can be confused because a design can also be part of a plan. 'geplant' emphasizes organization more, while 'entworfen' emphasizes design.
entworfen
In der Pause zeigte die Architektin den neu entworfenen Plan für das kleine Haus.
During the break, the architect showed the newly designed plan for the small house.
geplant
Das geplante Sommerfest musste wegen des Regens verschoben werden.
The planned summer party had to be postponed because of the rain.
