The quality of being trustworthy and believable. Refers to the reliability of a person, a statement, or a source of information.

The word is logically built: it combines 'glauben' (to believe) and 'würdig' (worthy) with the ending '-keit' (-ness). So it describes the quality of being 'worthy' of being 'believed'.

Belief in a person is your own conviction that they are honest or reliable, even without definitive proof. Glaubwürdigkeit (credibility), by contrast, is a quality that you attribute to that person or their statements. It can strengthen or weaken other people's belief in them.
