'Der Grant' (grumpiness) is a typical word from the southern German-speaking area, especially Austria and Bavaria. In other parts of Germany, the expression is rather uncommon.

The word is very often used in the fixed expression 'einen Grant haben' (to be in a grumpy mood). You can also say that someone has 'einen Grant auf' (a grudge against / irritation with) a person or thing in order to name the reason for the bad mood.
