Genitive complement
The thing whose interior is being described is often specified by a genitive phrase after 'das Innere' (the interior). Typical combinations are 'das Innere eines Gebäudes' (the interior of a building) or 'das Innere des Körpers' (the interior of the body).
EXAMPLE
Die Besucher durften das Innere des Schlosses besichtigen.
The visitors were allowed to view the interior of the castle.
Location and direction
For a location, use 'im Inneren' (in the interior) with the dative. For movement into it, use 'ins Innere' (into the interior) with the accusative.
