Singular in sentences
'Jeder' (each/everyone) considers the members of a group individually and therefore takes a singular verb. This also applies when many people are meant overall.
EXAMPLE

Strong emphasis
'Jeder einzelne' (each and every) strongly emphasizes that there are truly no exceptions. This combination often comes before words referring to people or things.
EXAMPLE
Jeder einzelne Antrag wird sorgfältig geprüft.
Each and every application is carefully reviewed.
Relative clause
The pattern 'jeder, der …' (anyone who …) describes any person who meets a particular condition. After the comma comes a relative clause with the verb at the end.
EXAMPLE
Jeder, der sich rechtzeitig anmeldet, erhält einen Platz.
Anyone who registers on time will receive a place.
Von construction
With 'jeder von' (each of), 'von' is followed by a group in the dative case; the verb agrees with 'jeder' and remains singular. Group nouns and pronouns such as 'uns' (us), 'euch' (you), or 'ihnen' (them) are commonly used.
