Meuterei vs Aufstand

uprising / fuss

Both words can refer to an organized uprising against an existing authority. Meuterei, however, is the specific term for an open rebellion by subordinates against their superiors, especially among soldiers or sailors. Use Aufstand more generally, and Meuterei when there is this clear relationship of command and subordination.
