Hun
'Mongole' and 'Hunne' can be confused because both are associated with peoples from history or from Asia. But they mean different things. A 'Mongole' is a male inhabitant of Mongolia or a male member of the Mongol people. A 'Hunne' is a member of the historical people known as the Huns. Tone is also important: both words can be problematic in certain contexts. 'Mongole' was formerly used in a discriminatory way for people with Down syndrome; this use is unacceptable today. 'Hunne' can be used derogatorily for a person seen as brutal. In neutral texts, these words should only be used precisely and respectfully.
