nunmehr vs jetzt

now

'jetzt' and 'nunmehr' can both express that something applies from this point onward or that a new state has been reached. 'jetzt' is the normal word in everyday language. It is used in speech, in messages, and in simple explanations. 'nunmehr' sounds much more formal and written, for example in reports, contracts, or official texts. It can also emphasize a consequence: something has happened, and therefore something new now applies. Learners may confuse the words because both can often be explained with 'jetzt'. In everyday language, 'jetzt' is almost always more natural; 'nunmehr' is more suitable in official or elevated texts.
