'Präsentieren' (to present) means 'vorstellen' (to introduce) or 'zeigen' (to show). It does not mean 'ein Geschenk machen' (to give a gift), even though the English word 'present' can also mean 'Geschenk' (gift). To give a gift, German uses the verb 'schenken' (to give as a gift).

to imagine / introduce
Vorstellen and präsentieren can both mean making a new product or idea known to people. Vorstellen focuses more on introducing something new, while präsentieren focuses on deliberately displaying and demonstrating it to an audience. Vorstellen is often appropriate for an initial announcement, while präsentieren is more suitable for a prepared showcase or presentation.
