A Bericht and a Rapport can both be formal information given to a superior. However, Rapport is particularly associated with hierarchical, military, or official structures, whereas Bericht sounds general and neutral. Rapport is appropriate in such a specific setting; otherwise, Bericht is usually the better choice.
