Westphalian
'westfälisch' and 'rheinisch' both describe regional origin, culture, or language in Germany. However, they do not refer to the same region. 'westfälisch' refers to Westphalia. 'rheinisch' refers to the Rhine or the Rhineland. The words can be confusing because both regions are in western Germany and are partly close to each other. Even so, you should not use them interchangeably: for Münster or Dortmund, 'westfälisch' is often appropriate; for Cologne, Bonn, or the Rhine, 'rheinisch' is more appropriate.
