'Schulnote' (grade) consists of 'Schul-' (school) and 'Note' (grade). The component 'Schul-' comes from 'Schule' (school), with the final 'e' dropped.

Specifying the subject
You can specify the school subject using 'in' (in). If an article or adjective follows, use the dative case.
