'die Kritik' and 'der Seitenhieb' can both show that someone is dissatisfied with something or someone. 'Kritik' is usually more direct and clearly names a problem. A 'Seitenhieb' is more indirect, often brief and mocking. It is said in passing, but is still aimed at someone. The words can be confused because a 'Seitenhieb' can also be a kind of criticism. If the statement is factual and open, 'Kritik' fits better. If it is hidden, pointed, or ironic, 'Seitenhieb' fits better.
