To discuss something with one or more people in order to make a decision, exchange information, or solve a problem.

'Bereden' is an inseparable verb. The prefix 'be-' remains firmly attached to the verb 'reden' (to talk) in all conjugated forms and sentence positions.
Wir haben das Problem gestern lange beredet.
We discussed the problem at length yesterday.
The prefix 'be-' makes the verb transitive, so it needs a direct accusative object. You say 'über ein Thema reden' (to talk about a topic), but 'ein Thema bereden' (to discuss a topic).
Wir müssen deine Zukunftspläne bald bereden.
We need to discuss your future plans soon.
You can often recognize the meaning from the sentence structure. 'Etwas bereden' means to discuss something. 'Jemanden bereden' means to persuade someone. 'Sich bereden' means to confer or coordinate with each other.

We discussed the details of the contract.
In the meaning of 'überreden' (to persuade), an infinitive construction with 'zu' often follows. The structure is: jemanden bereden, etwas zu tun (to persuade someone to do something).
Ich ließ mich bereden, noch ein Stück Kuchen zu essen.
I let myself be persuaded to eat another piece of cake.

'überzeugen' and 'bereden' can both have to do with conversations in which someone changes their opinion or does something. 'überzeugen' emphasizes the reasons: someone finds an argument correct and therefore agrees. 'jemanden bereden' means more like getting someone to do something through a lot of encouragement or persuasion. This can sound less objective and sometimes also like pressure. In addition, 'bereden' can simply mean 'to discuss', for example to discuss a problem or a plan. That is why the risk of confusion is high. If you mean the effect of good arguments, use 'überzeugen'. If you are just discussing a topic together, use 'bereden'.
