A building that belongs to an association or club, or is used by it, and serves as a meeting place for members, for events, or for administration.

The word is a compound of 'der Verein' (the association/club) and 'das Heim' (home). The '-s-' in between is a linking S that connects the two words. So it is literally the 'home of the club'.

Pay attention to the difference between direction and location. You go 'ins Vereinsheim' (to/into the clubhouse, accusative), but you are or celebrate 'im Vereinsheim' (in/at the clubhouse, dative).

The 'Vereinsheim' (clubhouse) is an important social meeting place in German club culture. Especially in sports clubs, it is the place where members meet after doing sports to have a drink and talk.

'Gemeindehaus' and 'Vereinsheim' are both buildings where groups can meet and events can take place. The difference is who the place belongs to or what it is for. A 'Gemeindehaus' belongs to a church congregation or a municipality and is used for community appointments, groups, or civic events. A 'Vereinsheim' belongs to an association or club, or is used by one, for example by a sports club or music club. The words are easy to confuse because both are meeting places. So ask yourself: if it is about the congregation or municipality, use 'Gemeindehaus'; if it is about an association or club, use 'Vereinsheim'.
