Usage tips
Separable verb
'Zurückschauen' (to look back) consists of 'zurück' (back) and 'schauen' (to look) and is separable. In a main clause, 'zurück' comes at the end of the sentence; in a subordinate clause, the verb remains together. With the infinitive using 'zu', 'zu' comes between the two parts.
EXAMPLE

At the garden gate, she looked back once more.

Expressing feelings
