'Zustimmen' (to agree / to approve) is a separable verb. The prefix 'zu' stands at the end of the main clause. In subordinate clauses and in the infinitive with 'zu', the verb stays together.
Er stimmt meinem Vorschlag sofort zu.
He agrees to my proposal immediately.
This verb always requires the dative. You agree with 'jemandem' (someone) or agree to 'etwas' (something, a plan, an idea).
Die Eltern haben der Reise ihrer Tochter zugestimmt.
The parents approved their daughter's trip.
To strengthen the agreement, you can use adverbs such as 'voll' (fully), 'ganz' (completely), 'vollkommen' (completely), or 'uneingeschränkt' (without reservation).
In diesem Punkt stimme ich dir voll und ganz zu.
On this point, I fully and completely agree with you.
to accept
With a proposal, „akzeptieren“ can mean accepting the proposal or its conditions. „Zustimmen“, on the other hand, emphasizes that you share the same opinion or support the proposal in terms of its content. Choose „akzeptieren“ when accepting something despite reservations, and „zustimmen“ when expressing explicit agreement.
Ich stimme dem Plan inhaltlich zu.
I agree with the plan in principle.
Ich akzeptiere den Plan trotz seiner Nachteile.
I accept the plan despite its disadvantages.
