In normal present-day German, however, 'sofort' means 'immediately' in a time-related sense, meaning 'without delay'. 'angrenzend', on the other hand, describes places or areas that are directly next to each other and share a common border. The risk of confusion arises because both can be connected with 'direkt' (directly). For time and quick actions, use 'sofort'. For properties, rooms, or areas, 'angrenzend' is the natural word.
