Both words can describe installing an object in a surface. „Einsetzen“ mainly refers to putting it into a designated position, while „einlassen“ additionally expresses that the object is flush with the surface or recessed into it. For a level surface, „einlassen“ is therefore more precise.
Der Handwerker ließ das Kochfeld bündig in die Arbeitsplatte ein.
