However, there are also hired cars with drivers; these normally have to be booked in advance and drive for a fixed price. Learners may confuse the words because both have to do with paid rides or driving. In everyday usage: traveling spontaneously with a driver is usually called 'Taxi', while renting a car to drive yourself is called 'Mietwagen'.
