'Die Räumung' (eviction / clearing) is the noun form of the verb 'räumen' (to clear / to empty). 'Räumen' means to empty a place or remove obstacles. The noun describes the result or process of this action.

The fire department immediately began clearing the building.
The context shows which meaning is intended. If it is about people, apartments, or occupied squares, it means clearing people out. If it is about roads, snow, or debris, it means removing obstacles.

In the context of buildings or squares, a 'Räumung' (eviction / clearing) is often 'angeordnet' (ordered), 'angedroht' (threatened), or 'durchgeführt' (carried out). A common combination is also 'zwangsweise Räumung' (forced eviction).

'die Entfernung' and 'die Räumung' can both have to do with something being taken away. 'die Entfernung' usually means that a specific thing or substance is removed. 'die Räumung' tends to mean that an entire place is cleared, for example an apartment, a square, or a street. This may involve removing people, furniture, snow, or obstacles. Learners may confuse the words because during a 'Räumung', something is often removed too. In practice: if a single problem is being removed, 'Entfernung' often fits. If a place is being emptied or made clear again, 'Räumung' fits better.
Nach dem Sturm begann die Räumung der Straße erst am nächsten Morgen.
After the storm, clearing the street did not begin until the next morning.
