Rate vs Anteil
share / proportion
'der Anteil' and 'die Rate' can both say something about a part in relation to a whole. 'Anteil' means the part itself that is attributed to someone or something, for example a share of the costs or of a group. 'Rate' is more a measure or figure showing how often something happens or how strongly something changes, for example 'die Arbeitslosenrate' (the unemployment rate). Learners may confuse the words because both often appear with numbers and percentages. If you mean the part of a whole, use 'Anteil'; if you mean a measured frequency or development, use 'Rate'.
