'die Folge' and 'die Serie' can both mean something that consists of several parts or is in a sequence. With films, podcasts, or audio dramas, however, a 'Folge' is only one individual part. The 'Serie' is the whole thing with many episodes. The words can be confused because you are talking about the same TV show. As a practical rule: You watch an episode, but you watch a series. In a more general sense, 'Serie' can also mean several similar events, while 'Folge' tends to emphasize the ordered sequence of individual elements.
