einschreiten vs tätig

active / employed

'tätig werden' and 'einschreiten' both mean that someone is no longer just watching, but takes action. 'Tätig werden' is more general and can refer to many kinds of action, for example reviewing a complaint or organizing help. 'Einschreiten' is used especially when a negative situation is supposed to be stopped, such as an argument, a rule violation, or a danger. Often, people with responsibility intervene, for example police officers, teachers, or referees. The risk of confusion lies in the fact that both describe active action. However, 'einschreiten' sounds stronger and more urgent.
