'Umziehen' is a separable verb. In a main clause, the prefix 'um' goes at the end. In subordinate clauses and infinitive constructions, the verb stays together.

Pay attention to the reflexive pronoun: 'sich umziehen' means 'Kleidung wechseln' (to change clothes). Without 'sich', 'umziehen' usually means 'den Wohnort wechseln' (to change residence / move). This is a very important difference.

The meaning 'to move in a group' becomes clear from the context. It is often found in descriptions of festivals, parades, or demonstrations, usually with a location phrase like 'durch die Straßen' (through the streets).

'ziehen' and 'umziehen' can both mean that someone changes their place of residence. 'ziehen' is often used with a destination: you move into an apartment, to Berlin, or in with your parents. 'umziehen' more strongly describes the whole change from one apartment or house to another. That is why it is very natural to say: 'Wir ziehen nächste Woche um.' (We're moving next week.) Learners may confuse the words because 'ziehen' in this meaning is already part of 'umziehen'. Also important: 'sich umziehen' means to change clothes, not to change where you live.
