Word structure
The word is made up of the negation 'un-' and 'entschieden' (decided). 'Entschieden' is the past participle of 'entscheiden' (to decide). The literal meaning is therefore 'not decided'.
EXAMPLE
Die Wahl ist noch nicht entschieden, das Ergebnis ist knapp.
The election has not been decided yet; the result is close.
Sentence structure in sports
In sports contexts, 'unentschieden' (tied/drawn) is usually used as an adverb with verbs such as 'spielen' (to play), 'enden' (to end), or 'ausgehen' (to turn out/end). It then stands at the end of the sentence.

Use with 'sein'
