'Die Zusage' (the acceptance/confirmation) is the noun form of the verb 'zusagen' (to agree/confirm). It describes the result of this action: binding agreement or a promise.

Common verbs used in connection with a confirmation are 'eine Zusage bekommen' (to get an acceptance/confirmation), 'eine Zusage erhalten' (to receive an acceptance/confirmation), or 'eine Zusage erteilen' (to give approval/confirmation). 'das Wort' and 'die Zusage' can both mean that someone promises something. With 'sein Wort geben' (to give one's word), the focus is on personal commitment: you promise something and intend to keep it. 'Zusage' is more specific and is often used for a positive response or confirmation, for example for an appointment, an invitation, or a position. Learners may confuse the words because both sound binding. However, 'Zusage' fits better when someone officially or clearly says yes. 'Wort' is more common in fixed expressions like 'Ich gebe dir mein Wort' (I give you my word).
