The noun 'die Anzeige' (advertisement/report/display) is derived from the verb 'anzeigen' (to show, report, or advertise). This verb means 'zeigen' (to show), 'melden' (to report), or 'inserieren' (to place an ad), which explains the noun's different meanings: you show information on a display, report a crime, or advertise an offer.

You can easily recognize the meaning of 'Anzeige' (advertisement/report/display) from the verb: An advertisement in the newspaper is 'aufgegeben' or 'geschaltet' (placed). A report to the police is 'erstattet' (filed). A display on a device 'zeigt' (shows) something.

'das Bild' and 'die Anzeige' can both mean something you see on a screen. 'das Bild' refers more to the whole visible picture, for example on a television, phone, or monitor. 'die Anzeige' refers more to information that a device shows, for example the time, temperature, battery level, or a warning. The words are easy to confuse because both are visible. When you are talking about the screen image in general or the quality of what you see, 'Bild' fits. When a device shows specific data, 'Anzeige' is more precise.
Die Anzeige am Automaten zeigt noch drei Minuten Wartezeit.
The display on the machine shows another three minutes of waiting time.
