'Verschwörung' and 'Komplott' can mean the same thing in many situations: a secret plan by a group that is illegal or harmful. Both words are clearly negative. 'Verschwörung' is very common, especially in political or social contexts. 'Komplott' often sounds a little more dramatic and is often used when the plan is described as a targeted attack against someone. Learners can easily confuse the words because their meanings are almost the same. In many sentences, you can use both, but 'Komplott' often feels a bit more suspenseful or stronger.
