Word family
'Der Entwurf' (the draft/design) is the noun form of the verb 'entwerfen' (to design/draft). You can recognize the verb 'werfen' (to throw) in it. The idea behind it is that you 'throw out' a first thought or first sketch, or put it down on paper.

Der Künstler entwirft gerade eine neue Skulptur.
