Both words refer to a direct confrontation between exactly two opponents. Zweikampf emphasizes the actual fight or sporting contest, while Duell can also describe a stylized or figurative confrontation. For a real sporting contest, Zweikampf is the more factual choice; in a dramatic portrayal, Duell also fits.
