transformieren vs verändern
to change
'verändern' and 'transformieren' both describe a change. 'verändern' is the normal, broad word for small or large changes. You can change something, and something can also change by itself. 'transformieren' sounds stronger and often more formal. It usually means that something is brought into a clearly different form or a new state. The words can be confused because both talk about change. As a simple guideline: every transformation is a change, but not every change is already a transformation.
